You can customize individual palette colors by modifying their color component values. The eight QuickDraw colors in row 1 of any palette can’t be edited, however, you can change any of the remaining 56 colors in rows 2–8. The Blank palette contains blank spaces (in rows 2–8) you can fill with your own color choices, then save as a custom palette.
Editing a Color Palette
Step 1
In the graph window, choose Edit Colors from the Edit menu.
Step 2
Choose the color or blank space you want to edit from the pop-up color palette in the Edit Colors dialog.
A sample of the color appears on the color bar on the right side of the dialog.
Step 3
Choose the RGB (Red, Green, Blue), HLS (Hue, Lightness, Saturation), or CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) color model from the Method pop-up menu.
Step 4
Use the sliders in the dialog to change the values of the color or enter percentages in the spaces provided.
The right side of the color bar shows the original color; the left side shows the new color.
•To revert to the original color at any time, click the right side of the color bar.
• To use the Macintosh Color Picker to edit a color, click the Picker button, change the values for the selected color in the dialog that appears, then click OK.
Step 6
Enter a name for the new color next to the Color option, then click OK to return to the graph window.
The new color appears on the current palette and is saved with the active graph window only. The original palette remains unchanged.
Saving an Edited Color Palette
Once you’ve edited a color palette, you can save it for use with future graph documents. By saving an edited palette, your original palettes remain unchanged so you can continue to use them.
Step 1
Choose Save Colors from the File menu.
Step 2
In the dialog that appears, select a folder and enter a new name for the palette, then click Save.
